1982 Batavus Competition 58cm Shimano 600
The Batavus Competition was designed for serious racing or touring enthusiast. The handmade frame is wholly made of Ishiwata 022 double butted tubes - main triangle, seat stays and fork - making for a nimble 10.7kg bike according to the catalogue from the time. The frame has Shimano ST dropouts and front and rear eyelets for fenders or bag carriers. The lovely pearlescent ivory colour catches the sun nicely, even though there is a fair amount of patina on the frame.
The bicycle is kitted out with a complete Shimano 600 groupset which was the top of the range Shimano in the early 80s. Stronglite headset, TTT stem, Custom Sakai handlebars The Arius Gran Carrera white suede saddle and tan bar tape and tan walled tires add to the vintage class.
