1984 Raleigh Road Ace 12 Shimano AX 62cm

Handbuilt in Raleigh's special "Lighwheight Unit"the Road Ace is a true vintage racing classic. This full frame is made from Reynolds 531C double butted steel tubing delivering the perfect blend of strength and lightness for serious riders and collectors alike. This bike would have been made in Raleigh's special "Lite Wheight Unit" which was dedicated to making only the very best road bikes of the time. 

The bike is equipped with a complete Shimano AX groupset, the iconic groupset which pioneered aerodynamic components. Funky details like inwardly laced spokes will delight aero nerds.

It should be noted the bike is not really ideal (in its current set-up) for daily riding. Its more for a collector/enthusiast. That's because the Shimano AX cranks only fit the AX Dyna Drive pedals (normal pedals will not fit), the iconic Delta style brake calipers are more like "speed-modulaters" than real brakes and like most top-end road bikes from the time the wheels only fit tubular tires (i.e. the type that glue to the rim). An ideal Eroica bike.
