Released in 1993 as successor of the Montello, the Pinarello Gavia was the 1990s top model manufactured by the Italian brand from Treviso. As stated on 1993 catalog, Pinarello wanted to offer a racing bicycle with more saddle seatback than his standard design. In order to achieve that, they designed a frame with with non-parallel head and seat angles and an overall geometry which allowed to push the saddle further back. Re the tubing, the Gavia was built with Columbus TSX tubing, lighter than SLX and suitable long-distance races.

As revered as the Italians are for making top class steel frame bicycles, the paint jobs often don't wear so well. That is the case with this bike as there are quite a few marks on the frame here and there (but no rust). A new set of decals would vastly improve the look of the bike. We would recommend reaching out to Cylco Mondo for any vintage details.

The bike is kitted out with a complete Shimano Dura Ace groupset. Smooth spinning Rgida DP18 hubs laced to DP18 deep dish rims with aero spokes. Only the largest chainring is not Dura Ace (it's Shimano 105 from same time period).

c-t is 54cm and top tube is 53cm
