1974 Gazelle Champion Mondial Reynolds 531 56cm Single speed
1974 Gazelle Champion Mondial Reynolds 531 56cm Single speed
This nearly 50 year old bicycle is a diamond in the rough. The Champion Mondial frame is completely constructed with Reynolds 531 tubing (main triangle, stays and fork) and features the elegant wrap-around seat stay and butterfly brake bridge this model is known for. The frame has lovely detailed lugs, Campagnolo dropouts and a engraved fork crown.
As can be clearly seen from the pictures the original paint is not in great condition. This makes the bike the ideal candidate for a stripped-down single-speed machine. Campagnolo crankset and saddle post, extra wide aluminium Sandbloc pedals and solid Schwalbe tires make this the ideal pavement beater.
Please note the rear wheel has been dished to optimize the chain line, if you would like to install a rear brake calliper you will need to re-dish the wheel. In either case the modern Tektro dual calliper brake calliper in the front adds plenty of stopping power.
