About Batavus

Batavus is a Dutch bicycle and moped manufacturer which was founded in 1904 in the Netherlands. Batavus Intercycle Corporation (Intercycle on some of the older bicycles) was not only the leading manufacturer of bicycles and mopeds in the Netherlands during the 1970s but like all the best brands established its racing pedigree with big wins at prestigious races. A Batavus bicycle was ridden by Gerben Karstend, as he achieved two stage wins in the Tour de France in 1966 and Leontien van Moorsel became the world champion in the 1991 Road Race on a Batavus.
