This Reus bicycle is built around a lightweight steel frame that features Gipiemme drop-outs, nice detailed lugs, chromed fork and a cut-out bottom bracket - all signs of a high-quality frame. The original paint and chrome are in good condition given their age.

The bike has quite a mix of components, although they are all high quality. It has Shimano 105 integrated shifters ( gears are changed via the brake lever), 7x2 speed Shimano Hyperglide cassette, Shimano RSX100 rear derailleur and dual-pivot brakes, Campagnolo crankset and front derailleur. The Shimano RSX hubs spin smoothly and are laced to Rigida deep dish DP18 rims (the font wheel is radially laced). Cinelli stem and handlebars.

New stainless steel Elvedes brake and gear cables. New Bike Ribbon bar tape. New Michelin Dynamic Classic 25mm wide tires strike a good balance between performance and comfort.

About Reus

In 1937 Jan de Reus started as a frame builder after a short career as a professional cyclist. Initially, this was more of a hobby. Still, his bikes performed so well that De Reus eventually became a very successful professional frame builder and his son would continue the business after him. Professional cyclist Theo Smit was a loyal customer of De Reus. Like many riders in the 1970s, he had his frames made by the builder of his choice and then painted in the colours of his sponsor. Theo won two stages in the 1975 Tour de France on a De Reus frame disguised as a Gazelle. A trick that he repeated in the Vuelta two years later.
